Welcome back to another weekly video where we talk all things real estate related. I’m Clayton Collins at Keller Williams in Fort Worth, Texas. Today we’re talking about back to school! When you’re looking to buy a home, choosing one within your desired school district is a very important decision. So, what are some things you need to know?
First of all, did you know there are 25 different school districts in Tarrant County alone? There are also 142 private schools. That’s a lot of schools! According to the public-school review website, Tarrant County is home to 524 schools made up of 356,868 students. If you want to learn more about the school districts, you can visit the website at Tea.texas.gov to get more information. If you’re looking for information on the rankings of different schools, you can check out the website greatschools.org. I have links to both websites on my website. Check it out at claytoncollinsteam.com.
Most buyers say that choosing a home with a particular school district is very important. Many times, buyers will pay a premium if they wish to stay in the boundaries of their desired school district. In fact, realtor.com reports that schools affect the home buying decision in 60% of buyers. Amazing! However, it isn’t the only factor that carries weight in the home buying decision. There are other things to consider such as the number of bedrooms, the layout of the home, proximity to work, church, and shopping, as well as other individualized factors.
This can mean great news if you are the home seller. According to Realtor magazine, a home in a desired school district can sell for $50 more per square foot. As always, results can vary so it’s always best to work with a realtor, like me, who has the professional tools, knowledge, and expertise to guide you through the process.
Besides grade schools, the North Texas area also has public and private universities and colleges. You can also find several trade schools too.
